Toddlers are crafty little beings. My one is currently trying to escape the cot so often that every now and then a teeny, tiny part of me can't help but wonder if it would be frowned upon to fashion a lid for the cot? When I say this out loud it doesn't sound great, does it? It makes it sound like I'm proposing putting a solid lid on top there, but I was actually thinking more of a chicken wire type solution, though now that I say THAT, that sounds even worse, doesn't it?
