People who take naps are more productive, a new study has found.

Yes, you read that correctly. As counterproductive as it may seem, catching a bit of shut eye may be the key to getting more done during your day - and, generally, to feeling better all around. The study looked at the napping preferences and the personality traits of 2,000 Americans - and found that those who classified them as nappers had a whole lot of benefits. For example, 93 per cent of nappers said that they were productive - comapred to 65 per cent of non-nappers. But it's not only that. 90 per cent of nappers said that they were happy compared to 79 per cent of non-nappers. Meanwhile, 89 per cent of nappers said they were confident - again, compared to 79 per cent of non-nappers. 83 per cent of nappers said that they felt they have a healthy work-life balance, compared to 62 per cent of non-nappers. So, turns out taking that afternoon kip may actually be really good for you - in more ways than just catching up on a bit of rest. The research, which was conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Mattress Nerd, also found that 79 per cent of people are extremely dedicated to their naps - so much so that they consider it a hobby. And 55 per cent of people said that they would be willing to take a pay cut if it meant they could have a snooze at their job. "Napping is no longer a sign of laziness, but it’s another tool we can use to make us more productive in life," a spokesperson for the company said. Sounds good to us.
