It's a very rare occurrence.

The birth of a baby is an astonishing thing to witness regardless of the circumstances, but this photo of an unusual delivery is something else. Birth photographer Angela Gallo captured this shot of a new life coming into the world over the weekend. She shared the image on Facebook and said she was "awed" by what she had witnessed. "Remarkably and utterly amazed, humbled and awed by the miracle and magic of life and creation," she wote. "Today's bundle of blessing, twin 'B'. My first ever en caul baby and it brought me to my knees." The twins were born at just 32 and a half weeks and were delivered vaginally, according to The Independent. The first twin was born as usual, but the second one (seen in the photograph) came out with the amniotic sac fully intact. This is known as an en caul birth. It's a rare occurrence - just one in every 80,000 babies is born this way - but it's perfectly safe and the child is removed from the sac after birth. The sac, which is filled with fluid and protects the baby during pregnancy, usually ruptures and leaks before the birth, known as the water breaking.
