Artist, Lucy Scott thought she was pretty well prepared for parenthood. She had done exhaustive pre-baby research only realising the futility of this when the baby came along, and chaos ensued. Now she has published a book of illustrations chronicling her first year of motherhood and it is basically our lives. doodle6 The Doodle Diary of a New Mum collection includes 128 two-colour illustrations and would be the perfect gift for Mother’s Day. There is also a few doodling pages at the back of the book so mums can doodle their own first-year memories or just smear a bit of poo, whatever's close to hand. doodle3   As chaotic as Scotts illustrations appear, surely it can't be that demented after all she's published a book. We're feeling a tad underachieving in the face of such productivity we've barely managed to condition the hair since having children. She told the Edinburg News: “I started doodling when I had a spare few minutes, which wasn’t very often, but soon realised I’d done quite a few over the year." We love Scott's humour, when speaking about the challenges of parenthood she added: “It’s tough – I miss my partner even though I pass him regularly in the hall.” Visit Amazon to purchase.
