Enda Kenny is getting a little more than he bargained for on Twitter this week: a campaign designed to highlight abortion rights in Ireland has women tweeting the Taoiseach some hilariously intimate details about their period. The movement, using the hashtag #repealthe8th, is the brainchild of comedian Grainne Maguire, who kicked it off on November 2 when she said:
"Since we know how much the Irish state cares about our reproductive parts- I call my womb Ireland's littlest embassy - I think its only fair that the women of Ireland let our leader @EndaKennyTD know the full details of our menstrual cycle. "Hey @EndaKennyTD just so you know, I got my period two days ago. Pretty heavy flow at first but now just occasional spotting #repealthe8th"
