Watch: Twins born in the US have completely different birthdays

Can you imagine the sibling rivalry, not to mention the expense – would it be two parties, two separate cakes on different days? Ouch. In San Diego, California on New Year's Eve, two little boys were making their way into this world. Jaelyn and Luis Valencia were born either side of midnight, and now have separate birthdays. Jaelyn was born at 11:59pm, and Luis followed soon after at 12:01am on New Year's Day, different birthdays and born in different years – Jaelyn's date of birth is 31/12/2015, and Luis's is 01/01/2016. The babies weren't due until late January, but the hospital has confirmed that the babies and their mother, Maribel, are doing well. Jaelyn weighed 4lbs 15 oz and Luis weighed 5lbs 9oz.
