One mum is seeking advice after her daughter's run-in with the police.

Kids like to push boundaries, especially as they approach their teenage years, couple that with a sense of newfound freedom and no idea what to do with it, and things can get frustrating. From sneaking out to meet friends and telling white lies such as where they are and who they're with - for a parent it can be a nerve-wracking time, to say the least. For one mother, her daughter has pushed the limits to a point where she felt so at a loss as to what to do, she decided to turn to Reddit to get some advice. Writing about her ordeal the mother said: "Last night, I was woken up with a phone call by a police officer who had pulled over my daughter. She is 15, no learner permit. She had snuck out, took our car and picked up a boy and they were driving around. This is my youngest of four, and I have never had to deal with something like this before." While she did take action, taking away her daughter's phone, grounding her and not allowing her to get her learner's permit on time, the mother didn't feel that her daughter understood just how serious her actions were. The advice she received from her fellow 'Redditors' was diverse and varied, from telling her the punishment needed to be harsher to blaming the police for not showing her the consequences of her decision. Do you have a hillside that seriously needs weeded or something similar? Something that will take her several hours. She has to finish that before she gets her phone back," recommended one parent. Another commented: "The cop didn’t do her any favours. She’s probably thinking well the cops didn’t care why am I in trouble!" While a third lamented what could have turned into a very serious situation writing: "She could have died, killed someone else, had a permanent record, or even killed the passenger. In my opinion, she got off lightly."
