The three-year-old boy has passed away. According to reports, the little boy had been on holiday with his grandparents and parents when the tragic accident happened. The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the family.

A three-year-old boy is in critical condition following a swimming pool incident in Spain.

The boy was found floating in the Cabo Roig urbanisation pool in Orihuela, Alicante at approximately 9.15am this morning. RTE News reports that emergency services attended the scene and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the boy for over an hour. He was eventually revived and taken to Hospital de Alicante by helicopter. He is said to be in an extreme "critical condition." The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is aware of the incident and is providing consular assistance.
