Three babies and two adults stabbed at New York childcare centre

Three babies and two adults were stabbed in an attack in the Queens area of New York overnight. NBC News reports that two baby girls, one aged three days and another aged one month, were stabbed in the stomach while a 20-day-old girl received cuts to her lips, ear and chin. The latest reports say that all three children are in critical but stable conditions. A female worker at the centre in Flushing, Queens was stabbed multiple times and a man thought to be a father of one of the children at the centre, was stabbed in the leg. It has not yet been confirmed if he was the father of one of the children hurt in the attack. A 52-year-old woman is in police custody at a nearby hospital after she was found unconscious in the basement of the house, where the daycare centre was located, with a self-inflicted wound to her wrist.
