Brought to you by the Department of Social Protection In case you hadn't heard the best news all week: paid paternity leave has been introduced! From September 1st, expectant dads can apply for two weeks' paid leave after their child is born and receive a minimum rate of €230 per week in paternity benefit payments. Paternity Leave is available in cases of both childbirth and adoption and is open to both heterosexual and same-sex couples. It is also applicable to those who are working as well as those who are self-employed and is available for up to 26 weeks after the child's birth or adoption. And it's so easy to apply – all that is required is your public services card and you can apply online at Welfare.ie. The Department of Social Protection have rolled out this helpful instructional video too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb9oYP27lJo&feature=youtu.be Brought to you by the Department of Social Protection. Check out Welfare.ie for more.
