Anyone receiving regular social welfare payments are being advised of a payment date change

As the June bank holiday fast approaches, so too does a minor change with many peoples’ payment days.

The June bank holiday falls on Monday June 3rd this year and will see many social welfare sums being paid early.

Banks and post offices will be closed that day due to the bank holiday.

The Department of Social Protection confirmed any changes in a notice, which read:

"Monday 3 June is a Bank Holiday and as a result, any social welfare payments due to be in your account on Monday 3 June will now be paid on Friday 31 May instead.

“Payments will be paid as normal on Tuesday 4 June.

"All Intreo Centres and Branch Offices will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday 3 June. Intreo Centres and Branch Offices will reopen on Tuesday 4 June."

Similar changes will arise for the remaining bank holiday dates this year, which are:

  • Monday, August 5 - August Bank Holiday
  • Monday, October 28 - October Bank Holiday
  • Wednesday, December 25 - Christmas Day
  • Thursday, December 26 - St Stephen's Day

Changes associated with these bank holidays will be announced closer to the time.
