Rescue operation under way after car goes into a river in Mayo

A rescue operation is under way in Louisburgh, Co Mayo after a car went into a river in the early hours of Christmas morning.

Coastguard rescue helicopter R118 and a nearby team from Westport assisted in the operation, according to RTE. Gardai and fire services are said to be at the scene. The coastguard remains at the scene but is currently on standby. More to follow.
