Police in Derry located and rescued a missing 12-year-old, who was found in a river.

The alert had been raised when the child went missing from the family home. According to Belfast Live, Magherafelt Local Policing Team were out searching for the child when they checked a local river,  and found them waist deep in the freezing water. The child was rescued and was brought to Antrim Area Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. Commenting on the incident, PSNI Chief Inspector Robinson said:
"This was outstanding police work by all the officers involved, if it had not been for their actions this could have been a very different outcome."
