Met Éireann has issued a weather warning across the country

A nationwide weather warning has been issued.

Met Éireann announced the Status Yellow warning this afternoon. High levels of rainfall are expected from 6pm this evening until 6pm tomorrow evening. Rain in the west will spread eastwards across the country from late afternoon today. Seven counties along the west coast and in the midlands are set to be worst affected. Galway, Mayo, Clare and Kerry can expect up to 50mm of rainfall, while 30-40mm of rain is forecast for Offaly, Limerick and Tipperary. Both the Road Safety Authority and the AA are urging motorists to slow down and avoid taking risks on the roads tonight and tomorrow. They're also warned to watch out for flash flooding. Yellow level weather alerts are for weather conditions that do not pose an immediate threat to the general population, but only to those exposed to risk by nature of their location and/or activity, according to Met Éireann.
