The supermarkets remain closed.

A council in west London is urging members of the public to dispose of any food items bought from three supermarkets after a man was arrested on suspicion of contaminating food with syringes. Hammersmith & Fulham Council issued an emergency alert on its social media accounts on Wednesday evening regarding the incident, in which the man is alleged to have visited Tesco Express, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s on Fulham Palace Road. He is accused of injecting foodstuffs at each supermarket using a number of syringes. https://twitter.com/LBHF/status/1430648160498733059 Officers were called at around 7.40pm after the man was reported to be shouting abuse at people in the street, the council said. He has been taken into police custody and the supermarkets have been closed as crime scenes were put in place. It is currently unknown how many items have been contaminated or with what substance, though the affected items are believed to be processed meat and microwaveable products. The council’s environmental health team are now working with the supermarket branches affected.
