The company confirmed the news early this morning.

The Luas website has been hacked - and the hackers are holding the tram service at ransom for a Bitcoin. If you click onto the homepage of the Luas the following message appears: It is claimed the hacker emailed the company "some time ago" stating that there were security holes in their website - but the company did not reply. The attacker is threatening to "publish all data and send emails" to users if they refuse to pay one Bitcoin within five days. The Luas have since released a statement which reads: "The Luas website is down at the moment. We will be using this forum (Twitter) only for travel updates should the need arise. We have technicians working on this issue."
