Lewis Hamilton buys nephew new dress in the wake of controversial video

Looks like he's come full circle.

Lewis Hamilton appears to have put his issues about boys wearing dresses behind him. The Formula One driver has been spotted buying a new princess dress for nephew Kaiden on a family holiday at Disneyland. Kaiden chose a Rapunzel-style dress at the Bippity Boppity Boutique, reports the Sun.

It comes after Lewis found himself in hot water over a video he shared on Instagram on Christmas Day. The clip showed him appearing to mock Kaiden for wearing a dress.

"I'm so sad right now, look at my nephew" he says, before turning the camera on the young boy, who is wearing a purple dress and holding a wand. "Why are you wearing a princess dress?," he asks the boy in the clip. "Is this what you got for Christmas? Why did you ask for a princess dress for Christmas? Boys don't wear princess dresses!" He apologised on Twitter after he was accused of 'gender-shaming' the little boy.

"Yesterday I was playing around with my nephew and realised that my words were inappropriate so I removed the post. I meant no harm and did not mean to offend anyone at all. I love that my nephew feels free to express himself as we all should. "My deepest apologies for my behaviour as I realise it is really not acceptable for anyone, no matter where you are from, to marginalise or stereotype anyone."
