A Laois father of two sets of twins has died in a workplace accident.

Alan Mulhall suffered fatal crush injuries at St. Patricks hospital in Dublin yesterday. Midlands 103fm reports that the electrician was hit by a large fuse box at the site. Local councillor Tom Mulhall told the station that the entire community of Emo is "in shock."

“The whole community is in shock around Emo and Stradbally. “They have four children, two sets of twins, two seven-year-olds and two three-year-olds. The seven-year-olds really will understand this horrible situation that the Mulhall family is in.”

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are currently investigating the incident.
