KFC has launched an investigation after high levels of bacteria were found in ice served to an undercover researcher. BBC’s Rip Off Britain were investigating food hygiene standards at a number of fast food chains and coffee shops in Birmingham, England. It was found that the ice contained bacteria from faeces. Dr. Margarita Gomez Escalada told the programme: "We found high levels of bacteria in the ice. "The presence of faecal coliform suggests that there's faecal contamination either on the water that made the ice, or the ice itself, and so it increases the risk of getting sick from consuming this ice." Following the discovery, KFC temporarily closed the restaurant in question for a deep clean and launched an investigation into the matter. According to BBC News, the Food Standards Agency has been back to the establishment and it has received a five out of five rating.
