Gardaí were contacted by concerned members of the public who claimed a woman was trying to sell or give away a toddler

It is believed the child involved was a little boy. The Sun reports that the alleged incident happened outside a shop at around five o'clock in the evening on the 15th of February on the south side of Limerick city. An investigation has now been launched into the circumstances. A spokesperson for the Gardaí has released a statement this afternoon: "Gardaí at Roxboro Road are presently conducting enquiries into the circumstances of the reporting of the incident and possible child welfare issues."
