Eight dogs believed to be worth €5,000 have been seized by Gardaí in Co. Tipperary. The dogs - lurchers, beagles, and a border terrier - were found in the back of a van travelling along the M8 motorway at Ashill, Thurles on Thursday, June 4. The van, which was exceeding the speed limit, was pulled over by Gardaí, who reported hearing dogs barking in the rear of the vehicle. Gardaí searched the van and found eight dogs that are believed to be worth in the region of €5,000. Neither the driver nor passenger could say who owned the dogs, none of which were microchipped. The animals were seized and are currently in the care of an animal rescue shelter. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
