A Chinese couple have appeared in court after they sold their baby on Facebook to buy an iPhone and a motorbike.  The man, referred to as ‘A Duan’ in court, and his partner ‘Xiao Mei’ agreed to sell the 18-day-old baby to a man they met online for the sum of €3,200 after running into financial difficulties. The man purchased the baby for his sister, who is still caring for the child as the case continues. According to the People's Daily Online, the 19-year-old mother, from Tong'an, Fujian province, south eastern China, said she didn't know it was illegal to sell a child, stating: ‘I myself was adopted, and many people in my hometown send their kids to other people to raise them.' A Duan received a three year jail sentence while Xiao Mei's two-and-a-half year sentence was suspended.
