Coronation Street fans left heartbroken over twist in Eva Price’s exit storyline

It initially seemed like they would get a happily ever after.

But Adam Barlow left Eva Price (and Coronation Street fans) devastated as he finally said goodbye. He had been prepared to leave Weatherfield behind for a fresh start with her and baby Susie - but in scenes that aired tonight [Friday, August 3], the trio returned for Aidan Connor's inquest. Eva's tearful testimony about how she had loved Aidan with all her heart and thought they had a future together led Adam to a realisation. Following Johnny and Eva's testimonies, Leanne pulled Adam aside to ask him if he was ok - and, when he assured her he was, she told him not to let Eva down. Meanwhile, a little while later, Eva told Kate that she would do anything she could to have Aidan back - and Adam overheard, realising that she would never love him like she loved Aidan. After Peter warned him not to waste his life "wishing for something you can never have", Adam made up his mind - and, after the inquest, pulled Eva to one side to break the news. He told her:

"I'm staying Eva, I can't come with you. "I heard what you said in court, you didn’t tell me you came back for him - that you wanted to get back together. "You said yourself you’d do anything to have him back, I don't think I can compare with that."

Eva told him that she loved him, that what they had was completely different to what she had with Aidan - but Adam was insistent that she wasn't ready to move on.
