‘Baby on board’ badges to be used on Irish public transport from today

It really grinds our gears when someone in need of a seat on public transport is not given one. We'd always give up our seat for an elderly person, and the same should be done for an expectant mother, as you never know the bumps and turns a bus could take. Well now, pregnant women are being offered new 'baby on board' badges for use on public transport services, with the new scheme starting from today. The badges, which have been launched by the National Transport Authority, can be worn by expectant mothers to let people know they may need a seat during a bus, train or Luas ride. All public transport services in Ireland have backed the new scheme, with 17 of the 20 maternity hospitals nationwide giving the badges to pregnant women in the Pregnancy Information Pack that they receive at their first scheduled hospital appointment. However, expectant women can also receive the badges at most transport outlets and also on transportforireland.ie. We think this is a brilliant scheme and are delighted it has been introduced at a national level.
