Doctors will stop Archie Battersbee’s life support treatment tomorrow

Archie Battersbee's life support will be switched off tomorrow, according to reports. According to the Daily Mail, the Battersbee family has been told that Archie's life support will be switched off tomorrow. During a last-minute virtual hearing at the Court of Appeal, the family has been granted a short delay. However, it will only remain in place until midday tomorrow, August 2nd. After that, his ventilator can be switched off by doctors at The Royal London Hospital. Over the weekend, Archie's parents were given a letter confirming his treatment would be stopped.

Barts Health NHS Trust said in the note to Archie's parents, Hollie and Paul, that "all fluid infusions, medications, including vasopressin, will be stopped at 2 pm."

The note also states that only immediate family will be allowed into the room to spend time with Archie as his treatment comes to a halt, and other family members will be banned.

The letter - which was given to MailOnline with permission of the Battersbee family - also reveals that a doctor will need to "assess Archie regularly to confirm that the heart has stopped beating".

This letter, which was sent to the Battersbee family despite the UN urging a pause on proceedings, was naturally met with devastation and anger from Archie's family.

Archie's mum found her son unconscious on the floor after an online challenge went wrong. He has been unconscious ever since.
