A 14-year-old Kerry boy has died after sustaining an injury during a GAA match.

Aodhán O'Connor was playing Gaelic football for Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne against St Brendan’s College, Killarney on Wednesday when the incident occurred. The Mirror reports that there was a clash of heads when O'Connor and another student went for the ball. The teenager was treated at the scene and then take to University Hospital Kerry. He was later transferred to University Hospital Cork, where he passed away on Saturday night. Dingle GAA has issued a statement on O'Connor's accident, paying their respects to the young player. They wrote:
"Dingle GAA are truly saddened at the tragic loss of our young footballer Aodhán O'Connor. "Aodhán will be deeply missed by his loving mom Áine, dad John, sister Ciara & all his teammates. "Our thoughts & prayers are with Aodhán's family & friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis."
