Word of mouth is hands-down the best way to learn beauty tips and tricks.

With so many different products on offer in shops and online, it can be overwhelming knowing what's best for your skin, which is why we'll always go for real-life advice where possible. This skincare forum on Reddit has taken off for that very reason. Spotted by the New Yorker, a thread called Skincare Addiction is an absolute treasure trove of advice and hacks for all things skin-related. You could spend hours on here, from looking at the photos and questions other have submitted to reading other people's experiences (and horror stories) of various products, as well as picking up some invaluable tips. For example, I just learned that a low-ph cleanser can soothe dry, irritated skin and what milia are (tiny white-yellow bumps on your skin caused by the build up of oil, dead skin or other nasty things, just FYI). Whether you have five minutes or two hours to spare, there are worse ways to spend your time than browsing this thread.
