A pizza base made of bacon and topped with melted cheese and even more meat seemed too good to be true.... until now. Behold the bacon crust pizza, perfect for the voracious carnivores in your life. This bad boy can also be adapted to suit Paleo lifestyle, mainly though we just like the fact that it is essentially melted cheese sandwiched between slabs of meat. Delish. Bacon crust pizza pizza Ingredients: 12-14 slices bacon 5 tablespoons tomato passata fresh basil chopped Handful of pepperoni Handful of mushrooms, sliced ½ cup grated mozzarella Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 210°C. 2. While oven is heating, weave bacon into a lattice and place on a rack in a lined baking tray. pizza1 3. Bake the bacon lattice in oven for 20-25 minutes. The cooking time will vary depending on your oven and how quickly your bacon tends to cook. You want to bake long enough to cook until slightly crisp but not all the way through. 4. Remove and allow to cool slightly. Top the bacon base with the passata, cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, basil, and any additional toppings you fancy. 5. Return the pizza to the oven and grill for an additional 5 minutes or until cheese is golden and bubbling. Cool slightly before slicing. Adapted from Pastured Kitchen
