The prestigious Irish Restaurant Awards by the The Restaurants Association of Ireland were awarded last night in the Clayton Hotel, Dublin. Growing steadily from its humble beginnings back in 2009, the awards are now a five-month long process consisting of online public nominations, judging panels, mystery guest inspections and regional and national events. Top of the pile? Chapter One in Dublin was awarded the gong of Best Restaurant in Ireland at the awards. The winners of Best Restaurant in each province were:
  • Ulster – MacNean House & Restaurant, Cavan
  • Connacht – Kai Café & Restaurant, Galway
  • Leinster – Sha-Roe Bistro, Carlow
  • Munster – Wild Honey Inn, Clare
Elsewhere, Morrisey’s in Laois was given the award for All-Ireland Pub of the Year. The other winners in that category were:
  • Dublin – The Long Hall
  • Connacht – John Moran's Bar, Mayo
  • Munster – Davy Macs, Waterford
  • Ulster – The Coach House & Olde Bar, Monaghan
In the best newcomer category, Forest & Marcy, Dublin were presented with the award. The other winners in that category were:
  • Dublin – Forest & Marcy
  • Connacht – Cian’s On Bridge Street, Mayo
  • Leinster – Three Old Bar & Restaurant, Louth
  • Munster – Holy Smoke, Cork
  • Ulster – Bull & Ram, Down
